Course Description

AP Art History is a college-level course that introduces students to the global history of art, spanning from ancient times to the present. Through the study of 250 required works of art from diverse cultures and time periods, students develop skills in visual analysis, contextual understanding, and critical thinking. The course encourages students to examine art through multiple lenses—historical, cultural, religious, political, and social—while forming evidence-based interpretations and comparisons.

  • Image Set Study: In-depth analysis of 250 prescribed works of art across geographical regions and chronological periods

  • Visual and Contextual Analysis: Practice interpreting form, function, content, and context to understand an artwork’s purpose and meaning
