AP Chemistry

Course Description

AP Chemistry is a college-level course that explores the structure, properties, and reactions of matter through inquiry-based learning and hands-on experimentation. The course emphasizes conceptual understanding, quantitative problem-solving, and the application of chemical principles to real-world scenarios. Students investigate topics such as atomic structure, bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry, building both theoretical knowledge and lab skills throughout the year.

Key Components:

  • Atomic and Molecular Structure: Understanding how matter is organized at the smallest level

  • Chemical Reactions and Equilibrium: Predicting outcomes and explaining the dynamic nature of chemical systems

  • Laboratory Investigation: Applying scientific practices to design experiments, collect data, and draw evidence-based conclusions

  • Data Analysis and Explanation: Using models and quantitative reasoning to support and communicate chemical understanding
