Course Description

AP African American Studies is a college-level course that introduces students to the rich and diverse history, culture, and contributions of African Americans through an interdisciplinary lens. Drawing from fields such as history, literature, political science, music, and the arts, the course emphasizes critical thinking, source analysis, and cultural understanding. Students explore key events, movements, and figures that have shaped the African American experience, while developing skills in research, discussion, and written expression.

  • Interdisciplinary Foundations: A broad exploration of African American history, culture, politics, and the arts through multiple academic disciplines
