Course Description

AP Macroeconomics is a college-level course that introduces students to the principles of economics that apply to the economy as a whole. The course focuses on national income, price determination, economic performance, financial sectors, stabilization policies, and international trade.

The course emphasizes data interpretation, economic modeling, and analytical thinking—skills essential for understanding real-world economic issues and preparing for college-level economics.

AP Macroeconomics Score Distribution

  • From 2020 to 2025, pass rates (scores of 3 or higher) for AP Macroeconomics have generally ranged from about 60% to 66%, showing consistent student performance over the years.

  • In 2025, 18% of students earned a 5, 23% earned a 4, and 25% earned a 3, bringing the overall 3+ pass rate to 66%.
